The Association of Manufacturers of Agricultural Machinery is a non-profitable organization dedicated to protecting and promoting the economical and professional interests of all its members.
It was originally founded in Thessaloniki, in 1978, where it is housed up till today. After the union with the National Association of Manufacturers of Agricultural Spraying Machinery "IPHESTOS", the Association has now more than 200 members located all over Greece.
The Association is run by a 9member Board, which is elected by the General Assembly, has a three-year service and meets each month first Monday.
The members specialise in the production of a wide range of agricultural machinery and equipment used in all stages of agricultural applications.
The main categories of agricultural machinery manufactured in Greece are:

    * Greenhouses and equipment
    * Harvesting machinery and implements
    * Irrigation machinery and equipment, Pumping Systems
    * Livestock and Poultry equipment
    * Loading, Transfer and Transportation machinery
    * Plant protection machinery and implements
    * Processing, Preserving and Packaging machinery
    * Soil processing and Improvement machinery and implements
    * Sowing, Planting and Fertilizing machinery and implements
    * Spare parts - accessories etc.

High manufacturing quality and machinery competitive prices have made the Association's members main suppliers of the Greek market. At the same time, they intensify their efforts to developing and enhancing exports taking advantage of current fundamental changes in the agricultural sector worldwide.
Many companies - members are already successfully exporting their products in North Africa, Middle East, Central and Eastern Europe and the European Union.
The Association, as the main organization of the sector, aiming at the overall promotion of Greek enterprises internationally, has undertaken significant initiatives to help its members' exports:

    * Participates in International Agricultural Fairs abroad.
    * Organises members' participation in international fairs abroad, often cooperating with local Public Organizations.
    * Organises commercial visits in various countries giving the opportunity for participating members to explore new, unknown markets and potential clients.
    * Cooperates with government institutions in solving problems faced by its members.
    * Cooperates with similar Associations both Greek and European. It is currently a member of the Exporters Association of Northern Greece, the Federation of Industries of Northern Greece and CEMA, the European Committee of National Associations of Manufacturers of Agricultural Machinery.
    * It is worth mentioning that EKAGEM has successfully presided CEMA from June 2002 to June 2003 organizing the General Assembly Meetings in Thessaloniki in great splendour.
    * Undertakes initiatives for its members group publicity, both in Greece and abroad, as shown in its latest Exporters' Catalogue 2006.
